I am only one, but still I am one. I can not do everything but I can still do something and because I can not do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do – Edward Everett Hale

The Advantage of adopting from us – The Director of Misfit Angels is Patricia Trueland. Patricia is currently a Certified Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. She has proudly held this title since 2015 and has tested over 100 dogs.

The dogs we pull go directly from the shelter into loving family homes. Never into boarding, never oused outside. Being in a family environment helps the dog adjust and fit into a family situation. The dog is assessed for compatibility with cats, children, steps and other stressors. Using this method assures us that we can judge how the dog will fit into your home and make a perfect fit for your family.

We use only one veterinarian consistently which develops a medical history that is easy to follow.

Over 3.3 million dogs find themselves in shelters every year, of that number 1.6 million are adopted, 670,000 are EUTHANIZED and 620,000 are returned to their original owners.

We believe we can change these numbers! Please help one of our “Misfits” shed their wings and become a lifelong member of your family!

GENERAL INFORMATION

Patricia Trueland, Founder and Director of Misfit Angels of South Jersey has been involved with the care of Animals since being a child. She began her journey in 1965 helping to provide care for the horses at Garden State RaceTrack, She became a member of the Ranger Rick Club and then a volunteer at the Animal Welfare Association under the direction of Alice Blackburn. She then became a foster for another Rescue Organization and knows what it takes in being a foster “mom”. She has worked hand in hand with the Humane Society during the rescue efforts that took place after Katrina, the Category5 hurricane in Aug 2005. Patrica has always worked with animals to provide them a better life. While watching her yearly Christmas Animated Classic, Rudolph The Rednosed Reindeer, she had a vision – The Land of Misfit Toys, she thought to herself, Dogs are very much the same as these toys – left behind or discarded through no fault of their own. If Santa could find homes for those toys, then we could find homes for “Misfit Dogs” And just like that Misfit Angels Rescue of South Jersey was formed.

We work Closely with our liaison in Georgia, who literally saves dogs seconds before their final breath. They are vetted and head to New Jersey to begin their new lives.

EVERY DOG FINDS A HOME!
No MOMMA is EVER left behind. We take dogs of all ages, shapes and sizes. It is a tireless effort and one that Patricia and her team will continue to do until she is no longer able.

Adopting a dog from Misfit Angels of South Jersey will save 2 lives. The life of the dog you adopt and the life of the dog that can then be pulled as a result of an open space created from the adoption.

We are volunteer staffed and a 501C3 Non Profit, so every penny of the adoption fee goes towards the health and care of the dogs we pull.

Misfit Angels of South Jersey

We are a 501C3 Non Profit Rescue in South Jersey. We pull any dog in need from anywhere we can. I believe in saving lives! This is what Misfit Angels is all about!

All I can say is Thank God for good friends and awesome supporters. We have so much going on, but there is something I need to say first; Its that time of year again and this rescue decided at its inception to NEVER DO ADOPTIONS DURING THE HOLIDAYS! Dogs, pups, cats, kittens, animals ARE NOT GIFTS!! We will spend our time preparing for the Auto Show in January. No one really quite understands what it takes to get the dogs ready for such an event. Now, Only the closest to me know that over the past month our Wonderful, Amazing Rescue was put in jeopardy. I cried, I prayed, and prayed and prayed some more. A solution was shown to me and we are barreling towards our salvation. The dogs are safe thanks to some incredible fosters. It's all going to work out. Please bear with us while we move forward with our plans. I promise to reveal more as time progresses. We will never turn our backs on our dogs. When I drop to me knees and promise a burnt, mangy, flea ridden, broken soul safety I mean it with my entire being. Rescue isnt what we do, ITS WHO WE ARE!! Thank you to my rock and her cKassi Mancusoncuso without her this would be an entirely different post!! Love To All! ... See MoreSee Less
